Adjusting Your Fitness Goals To The New Norm

With the uncertainty of how long quarantine will end most people have adjusted to creating new daily habits in order to get by.

It is important to do the same thing with your workouts and fitness plan.

How To Make Changes

If you were an individual that was used to working out in a gym regularly, a strength athlete, or an individual focusing on hypertrophy. You may be feeling down or discouraged not having access to the same equipment and dealing with the mental battle of potentially losing your gains.

One of the positives you must remember is maintenance is easier than building. It takes less volume/ workload to maintain muscle than is required when you were gaining muscle. So keep working out and staying active. Additionally, it will go a long way when gyms re-open in helping the transition back to your regular training plans.

Next, one of the most important things you must do to help with mental and physical health is re-prioritize and set new goals.

For example, if you were a strength athlete chances are you did not do a lot of cardio or a lot of workouts focusing on muscular endurance. You may not have the equipment to keep up your 500 lbs squat. But you can set new endurance goals like being able to do 60 air squats in 2 minutes for example.

Set new fitness goals which will help keep you healthy and fit and challenge your body in ways you haven’t before.

This will give you something mentally to focus on and you can continue to celebrate your wins as you improve and set new goals.
