Maintain Weight Over The Holiday Season

Weight is a simple equation right? If more calories come in than is burned you gain weight, if more is burned than consumed you lose weight.

This is much easier said than done.  With Christmas and the holidays just around the corner it can be harder than ever to maintain or lose weight! We will go over some tips which will help you enjoy the holiday treats and still keep your waistline!

  1. Moderation: Moderation is key, instead of eating with your eyes at your big holiday dinner take small samples of all the deserts. That way you still get to try what is there but you are not eating an excess of the treats.
  2. Exercise: You know you are going to be eating more, prepare and get in more exercise. Go for a walk or run in the morning, get in an afternoon workout, take the stairs instead of elevators. Do the little things daily that will burn more calories and your holiday treats will not hit you as hard (key word as hard).
  3. Dogie bags: Are you hosting? Send your guests home with treats so you are not tempted to binge on all of the leftovers.
  4. Don’t starve: Sometimes people will starve themselves all day knowing they will pig out out at an evening dinner.  When you bank your calories all day you will be tempted to overeat all the high sugar and carb meals and treats.
  5. Lay off the pop: Drink water throughout the day…. just do it
  6. WillPower: Sometimes you will just have to say no! I know it can be hard, but we are doing a 360 back to our very first point moderation is key.
