Check out what I was up to in the gym, I decided to end my workout the other day with box jumps!
Box jumps are another exercise you can use to help improve your vertical jump.
There was an interesting study published in the Journal of Applied Sports Science Research called The Effect of Six Weeks of Squat, Plyometric and Squat Plyometric Training on Power and Production. The study was designed to determine which training protocols were the most effective for improving the vertical jump. The group which only did squats increased their vertical jump on average 3.3cm, the group that did only plyometrics increased their vertical jump 3.81cm. Participants who did both plyometrics and squats increased their vertical jump by 10.67cm.
Moral of the story, add variety to your workouts and do not focus on one training path in order to better your results. Have fun and keep working hard!
