The amazing display of endurance was also a fundraiser for the FITOps Foundation.
The Definition of Heart!
Due to the Coronovirus the New York City Marathon which would have been held October 30th was cancelled. So instead thousands of people decided to compete in the virtual event.
Devon Lévesque Feat of Endurance
Lévesque completed the marathon is 20 hours and 48 minutes which at first doesn’t sound amazing until you hear he did it in a bear crawl. As if a marathon is not hard enough, now try it on all fours!
What was the purpose of run?
The purpose was to raise money for the FitOps Foundation. Furthermore, they are a foundation that was funded in 2016 by Matt Hesse which helps veterans create careers out of becoming fitness trainers. The target goal was $200 000.
Mental health and suicide prevention
In addition, Lévesques feat of endurance was also done to raise awareness for mental health and suicide prevention. As his father passed away from suicide when he was a young teenager of 16 years old.
How did the lead up and training go?
This event was a year in the making for Lévesque. He trained 4-6 hours daily
In an interview with People, he said
“I have been putting my body in an uncomfortable state for a long period of time so it adjusts to where I eventually become comfortable. Just like people running a marathon for the first time, you have to put your body through uncomfortable states to familiarize it. I have had to do the same with bear crawling.”
At the end of the event Lévesque gave a speech talking about the goal raising awareness for mental health and the fundraiser.
This is truly an inspirational story!
