What is Lower Cross Syndrome?
Lower cross syndrome is a combination of muscular imbalances where you have tight and weak muscles creating a neuromuscular condition that will put your body in an unfavorable position.
The tight muscle include your lower back muscles (thoracolumbar extensors) and your hip flexors. The weak muscles include your abs and butt muscles (glutues maximus).
Meaning of the term
Lower cross syndrome stems from muscular deficiencies in the lower half of your body and “cross” is the combination of tight and weak muscles that will make an x or cross if we draw lines between the muscles involved (see image below).
